ANATOLY KASHIGIN
Note by Elizaveta Efremova, senior art critic of the graphics department of the Tretyakov Gallery
In the meantime, there is no need to know about it. ”
About the work of A.P. Kashigin published articles and notes in the newspapers "South Ural", "Soviet Russia", in the book "Pathos of Creation" (Chelyabinsk), in the "Chronicle of Artistic Life" (Moscow), catalogs of regional exhibitions were published.
Information about the artist was included in the first disc of the "Computer collection of art" series of the electronic publishing house ART-INFO of the Russian information agency ITAR-TASS.
Kashigin did not receive a systematic art education. According to a number of essential features, his work conditionally fits into the stylistics of naive art, which includes the works of such famous masters as Russo, Pirosmanishvili.
The desire to gain emotional clarity, purity of perception of the world, integrity and simplicity of the figurative system dictates to him a kind of simplification of artistic means, an appeal to the forms of primitiveness. However, in his work there is also a strong influence of Vincent van Gogh, of whom he is an ardent admirer. Turning to a light, dynamic palette, flowing strokes so characteristic of the works of the Dutch painter, Kashigin also strives for emotional and psychological tension. We find a "Vangogovskoe" combination of bright colors, expressive rhythm of drawing and bold, free compositional solutions in the works of this original talented master.
Kashigin's natural talent is poured onto canvas or paper in an original and energetic way. The uniqueness of his painting and graphics cannot be explained only by the stylistics of the primitive. His works are difficult to understand even for connoisseurs of art.
His world is dynamic, sparkling, embodied on canvas or paper with wide, impetuous pasty strokes, captivates and bewitches with sincerity of the world perception, naturalness. Originality and expressiveness are the creative credo of the master. Painting for him is the element of creative breath, when, improvising with color and form, the artist transfers his irrepressible inner energy to the created images. The dynamics and bright palette, saturated with orange and red tones, reminiscent of flashes of fire, make his work optimistic. It is in this vein that many works dedicated to the nature and people of their native land were written.
The theme of the Orenburg Cossacks is one of the key ones in his work. But in his pictorial and graphic cycles, genuine drama is often heard. He permeated compositions on the themes of the Great Patriotic War (1941 - 1945) and works dedicated to A.S. Pushkin ("Duel on the Black River", "Before the Duel", "Pugachev").
In addition to the original works, Van Gogh's "remakes" are also interesting. It is impossible to call them copies - a different technique, changed contours, a changed spirit - the paintings seemed to be refracted in an old, cracked mirror and acquired a new, intensified, sometimes frightening drama. Gauguin's "remakes" change the contours, strokes, sometimes the palette, but surprisingly retain the overall mood. It can be concluded that Anatoly Kashigin is an interesting, original painter with good prospects for creative growth.
